This research offers a novel study about training in small and medium sized enterprises of Mexican manufacturing industry. The aim was to identify the behavior of wages and sales based on training investment. The data collected by INEGI in the annual survey of manufacturing industry for eight years were analyzed through multivariable techniques such as ordinary least squares, fixed effects, and time series.
The results reveal a significant increase in wages and sales in those companies who report invest in training, being the main finding the identification of optimal investment in training.
Originality consists of the input into the annual training investment that is to be used to maximize sales and wages per person, nevertheless, a limitation lies in the difficulty of obtaining estimates.
