Resumen

ANTONIO ZAMBRANO, Rebeca; ESCUDERO AVILA, Dinazar Isabel  y  FLORES MEDRANO, Eric. An introduction to the concept of derivative in high school students. Educ. mat. [online]. 2019, vol.31, n.1, pp.258-280.  Epub 08-Jun-2020. ISSN 2448-8089.  https://doi.org/10.24844/em3101.10.

In Mexican’s Calculus curriculum of High School level, the derivative concept is commonly shown to the students as a tangent line to the curve and later it is provided its analytical treatment. That reduces its understood to the memorization of algebraic expressions and algorithmic calculations, which don’t leads to the concept of physical phenomena that present variations and chang-es, as well as thinking that the derivative is only an indeterminate limit. Within the Mathematics Education research, the concept of derivative has been studied for its importance in mathematics and the difficulty observed in its teaching and learning. These inquiry already provide enough information to teachers to use and design activities around the concept based on research results. In this article, a didactic sequence is presented whose objective is to introduce the concept of derivative through to a phenomenon that presents variations and changes, which also allows the coordination between representation in high school students who have a first approach to this concept.
