Resumen

SILVA CONTRERAS, Mónica. A history of the construction of the monument to Juárez in Mexico City. Academia XXII [online]. 2023, vol.14, n.27, pp.138-168.  Epub 18-Jun-2024. ISSN 2594-083X.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fa.2007252xp.2023.27.85759.

The aim of this article is to state the constructive significance of the monument to Benito Juárez in Mexico City's Alameda Park as a key element in its appreciation as architectural heritage. The project by the architect Guillermo Heredia, including classicist elements, was chosen by way of a contest in 1909, then carried out under the direction of the engineer Ignacio León de la Barra. Part of the constructive value of this structure resides in the use of the Compressol foundation system, created by the engineer Miguel Rebolledo; the said infrastructure sustained a reinforced concrete portico, based on the calculations and procedures of the system patented by François Hennebique.
