Resumen

SANCHEZ MARTINEZ, Andrés. About Revista de España (1868-1895): Debates on a New Literary Ideology in Spain in the Second Half of the 19th Century. Bibliographica [online]. 2024, vol.7, n.1, pp.109-132.  Epub 14-Jun-2024. ISSN 2594-178X.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iib.2594178xe.2024.1.478.

This article offers an approach to Revista de España (1868-1895), reviewing its origin and historical relevance in order to comment on some of its material and morphological aspects, as well as to focus on its literary sections. For nearly 30 years this publication founded by José Luis Albareda, thanks to its eclectic spirit, brought together prominent figures from the cultural and political scene of the second half of the 19th century. Under its insignia of impartiality and encyclopedism, Revista de España featured writers such as Juan Valera, Benito Pérez Galdós, and Emilia Pardo Bazán, who, through their poetry, novels, and literary criticism, showcased the codification in the magazine and some debates on the Realism paradigm in Spain, which coincidently ended at the same time as the publication disappeared in the last years of that century.
