Resumen

FERNANDEZ CASTRO, Roberto. Rafael Altamira and his contribution to modern Ibero-American historiography. Rev. hist. Am. [online]. 2023, n.166, pp.83-110.  Epub 27-Feb-2024. ISSN 2663-371X.  https://doi.org/10.35424/rha.166.2023.3647.

In this article, a historiographical balance of the work of the historian Rafael Altamira is made, following through it the possible actuality of his liberal, pacifist and regenerative project, as well as his main contributions, which fertilized and promoted the work of some of the most prominent Spanish- American historians of the 20th century, especially in terms of their aspirations for modernity. Based on the question about what Rafael Altamira's place is currently in Mexican, Spanish-American and Spanish historiography, it is intended to show the relevance of the studies about his work on both sides of the Atlantic that, seen from a bidirectional perspective, could lead to an even more comprehensive breadth of vision in the study of exiled thought or Ibero- American modernity.

Palabras llave : Rafael Altamira y Crevea; historiography; spanish exile; hispanoamericanism; modernity.
