Abstract
A brief introduction to the spinweighted spherical harmonics is given, and some applications of these functions in the solution by separation of variables of various systems of partial differential equations are presented. The examples considered here are the sourcefree Maxwell equations in flat spacetime and in the Schwarzschild spacetime, the Einstein vacuum field equations linearized about the flat spacetime and the Dirac equation.
Keywords: Spherical harmonics; Maxwell's equations; Schwarzschild solution; linearized Einstein equations; Dirac equation.
