Resumen

PERINAN GOMEZ, Bernardo. A Comment on a Speech by José Castillejo about the Common Law. Bol. Mex. Der. Comp. [online]. 2012, vol.45, n.135, pp.1239-1270. ISSN 2448-4873.

José Castillejo Duarte (1877-1945) was an outstanding intellectual in Spain before the Civil War (1936-1939). He was a professor of Roman Law since 1908, but also a convinced reformist of education. Castillejo was forced into exile in England at the beginning of the war. From London, he gave several speeches in spanish through the BBC radio. One of them is commented here. We analyse this speech from a historical and personal point of view. At the same time we underline two aspects of the author's personality, as a jurist and as a comparatist, which is perhaps the least known of his qualities.

Palabras llave : José Castillejo Duarte; spanish exile; BBC; roman law; comparative law.
