MENDIZABAL BERMUDEZ, Gabriela. Social Security and the Challenges Posed by Climate Change. Bol. Mex. Der. Comp. [online]. 2015, vol.48, n.143, pp.697-730. ISSN 2448-4873.
The natural disasters occurring around the world today leave no doubt that climate change will continue to have severe consequences for social security systems in every country. As the impact of the social and natural hazards affecting global populations has increased, so has social security spending, most significantly on housing, health care, and the protection of livelihoods. But it seems that despite this urgent and irrfutablefact, social security systems have few or no resources to cope with the challenges imposed by climate change. This article's findings, enriched by comparative law studies, contribute to establishing the challengesfaced by social security providers as a result of climate change.
