Resumen

GALINDO LARA, Claudia. El concepto de revolución en el pensamiento político de Hannah Arendt. Rev. mex. cienc. polít. soc [online]. 2005, vol.47, n.195, pp.31-62. ISSN 0185-1918.

This work analyses Hannah Arendt's reconstruction regarding revolutionary movements. These are seen as the incarnation of the best attributes of politics. They imply the power to act together and they reassign the role of plurality. They are the recognition of politics as an expressive dimension, interruption of the history course and a new beginning. The revolution is the privileged moment of politics, but at the same time, it is the demonstration of its fragile, emergent and contingent condition. Revolutions are recovered through history. Arendt has two models of revolution. The first one is the "successful" model (the American Revolution) and the other one is the "failed" model (the French Revolution). The American Revolution is success ful because it preserved its political character, whereas the French Revolution succumbed to the "passion of compassion" due to the oblivion of politics and its attachment to find solutions to their needs.

Palabras llave : Revolución; Revolución Francesa; Revolución Americana; política; actuar en concierto; nuevo inicio; cuestión social; compasión.
