JIMENEZ MARCE, Rogelio. Agrarian Conflicts and the Formation of Agrarian Political Power in Santiago Tuxtla, Veracruz (1922-1950). Relac. Estud. hist. soc. [online]. 2016, vol.37, n.148bis, pp.125-167. ISSN 2448-7554.
The objective of this study is to elucidate the complex process of agrarian reform that was carried out in the locality of Santiago Tuxtla, Veracruz, where peasants succeeded in conserving the lands granted to them as a 'provisional dotation' through alliances established with political actors that included the local government (ayuntamiento) and a peasant-based guerrilla group. A significant role in this process was played by Antonio Alvarado, who successfully maintained his dominion over the Ejidal Council (comisariado ejidal) for over 15 years and made Santiago Tuxtla into one of the final bastions of Adalberto Tejeda's agrarista project.
