Resumen

TELLO DIAZ, Carlos. Three Foreign Landowners, One Ecotourism Project: The History of San Antonio, Colima. Relac. Estud. hist. soc. [online]. 2019, vol.40, n.159, pp.73-88.  Epub 30-Sep-2020. ISSN 2448-7554.  https://doi.org/10.24901/rehs.v40i159.637.

This study reconstructs the history of the rural property known as San Antonio, situated in the province of Comala, 30 kms. north of Colima in western Mexico. From the late 19th century, three foreign residents in Mexico had owned those lands: a German plantation owner, a Bolivian businessman, and a financer of French and English descent. This property now sits within the boundaries of a natural park called Zona de Protección Forestal y Refugio de la Fauna Silvestre El Jabalí. The article first describes the history of this place using a methodology based on research with primary sources. In the second part, it examines the political controversies that have emerged regarding the participation of private foreign capital in this natural protected area of Mexico.
