Resumen

MARTINEZ-FERNANDEZ, Edgar et al. Fusarium diversity from the roots of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum) in Morelos State, México. Rev. Mex. Mic [online]. 2015, vol.42, pp.33-43. ISSN 0187-3180.

One hundred thirty two isolates with morphological characteristics typical of Fusarium were obtained from the roots of sugarcane plants with wilt symptoms of Morelos State. The monoconidial isolates of Fusarium were grown in culture media potato dextrose agar, spezieller nährstoffarmer agar and carnation leaf agar for identification. The identification was based on morphology and dimensions of macroconidia, microconidia, phialides and chlamydospores, complemented by observing the development of sporodochia, and determining of colony color in potato dextrose agar. Isolates were identified as Fusarium andiyazi, F. nygamai, F. sacchari, F. proliferatum, F. verticillioides (section Liseola), F. equiseti (section Gibbosum), F. oxysporum (section Elegans) and F. solani (section Martiella). This is the first report on the identification and description of Fusarium species from sugarcane roots in México, F. andiyazi and F. nygamai are recorded for the first time.

Palabras llave : roots necrotic; wilt; sugarcane; Fusarium spp.
