Resumen

FUENTES FLORES, César M.. Los cambios en la estructura intraurbana de Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, de monocéntrica a multicéntrica. Frontera norte [online]. 2001, vol.13, n.25, pp.95-118. ISSN 2594-0260.

This article analyzes the changes in the intra-urban structure of Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, from 1989 to 1993. For this purpose, the services and commerce economic census of 1989 and 1994 were consulted, the population census of 1990 and the population counting of 1995, both at an AGEB level were consulted also. The afore was possible trough the construction of a centrality index. In 1989, the intra-urban structure of Ciudad Juárez showed the presence of two principal centers. These centers, although they are of the same rank, have different functions as a result of both having economic branches that sustain different marketing areas, uneven density of population and different buying capacity of their primary consumers. In 1994, the city-continued having this two principal centers, even thou three new sub-centers were created, which are localized out of the traditional central areas, in easy-to-reach zones with a high level of infrastructure. In this context, the intra-urban structure is in process of becoming multi-centered, when in the past it was mono-centric.
