This paper presents six short life stories that show how the crisis that broke out in Argentina in 1998 left millions of people unemployed. This crisis was caused by the acritical implementation of neoliberal policies following the last military dictatorship, which was taken further during the presidency of Carlos Menem and the governments that came afterwards. In this context, informal work became a metaphor for the inequalities - structural and dynamic alike - that permeate our society.
