PEREDO, Francisco. Entre la intriga diplomática y la propaganda fílmica: México y el cine estadounidense durante la Primera Guerra Mundial. Polít. cult. [online]. 2014, n.42, pp.89-122. ISSN 0188-7742.
World War I triggered, among certain US social sectors, old anti-Mexican feelings along with an anti-Germanic and anti-Japanese paranoia. Whilst the Mexican Revolution exacerbated the fear for the danger it might imply for US interests, the European war increased tensions of the involvement of the US in the conflict, thus a propagandist filmography was produced, with propagandistic goals, seeking to "forewarn" the film audiences of the dangers posed by "the others" (Germans, Japanese, Mexicans and/or Latinos).
