IBARRA, Jorge; SANDOVAL, Alfredo y SOTRES, Lida. Variables Explaining the Mexican State Governments Peformance. Gest. polít. pública [online]. 2005, vol.14, n.1, pp.169-196. ISSN 1405-1079.
This paper uses the governmental performance index built in the book Mexican State Governments Perfomance to make an econometric analysis explaining its variations among states. This global index of performance is related to economic, demographic, political and regional variables, using ordinary squares minimums in a lineal model and techniques to estimate with ordered data in a probabilistic model. We find that the state GDP per cápita, the marginalization degree, population and geographic location of the states explain significantly the variations of the performance index. The analysis is based in 1997 figures.
