Resumen

PURON-CID, Gabriel. The Dimensions of Knowledge in E-government Adoption: A Confirmatory Factor Analysis. Gest. polít. pública [online]. 2013, vol.22, n.spe, pp.211-257. ISSN 1405-1079.

Knowledge is identified in the literature as a critical factor for the adoption of e-government. The nature of knowledge is complex and implies multiple dimensions that make it difficult to assess in practice and in theory. This research constitutes an exploration of the multiple dimensions of knowledge involved in e-government adoption in the context of an IT-enabled budget reform in Mexico. This study applies confirmatory factor analysis to estimate the common variance among different indicators measuring knowledge with the purpose of uncovering its multiple dimensions. The data come from a questionnaire applied in 2011 over federal and state government officials who participated in the budget reform. This initiative is considered a contemporary case of e-government. The questionnaire includes inquiries about knowledge found critical in the literature and in previous in-depth studies of this particular case. The goal of this study is to extend our understanding of multiple dimensions of knowledge as possible enablers and inhibitors during e-government adoption. Derived from the analysis, a selection of some "practical advises" is recommended for the adoption of e-government projects.

Palabras llave : electronic government; factor analysis; knowledge; technologies adoption.
