Distribution patterns of mosses from the Sagua Baracoa mountain system were studied and divided into five groups. To analyze their world dispersion, information from 44 countries was accumulated. We found that 59% are neotropical and 41% extraneotropical and that the most abundant group in Cuba is the pancuban. The majority of taxa originated in the South, Gondwana and South America being the main centers of development. We consider that the main migration routes are the Aves and Beata dorsals. Nearctic groups extend mainly to the eastern United States of America. Some 48% of the extra-neotropical mosses are also present in the African-Indian region.
