ZUNIGA, Genny y ORLANDO, María Beatriz. Trabajo femenino y brecha de ingresos por género en Venezuela. Pap. poblac [online]. 2001, vol.7, n.27, pp.63-98. ISSN 2448-7147.
This paper focuses on women's labor force participation and current earnings of female workers in Venezuela. The participation of women in the labor force in Venezuela has increased significantly in the last decades. The main variables that explain this phenomenon are: education level, age, fertility rates, marital status, and urbanization. Estimating a model of labor earnings, we can conclude that, on average, male workers earned 20 per cent more than female workers with similar education, experience and economic activity. Using the standard Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition, we can show that most of these differences cannot be explained by differences in education or experience.
