Resumen

The research includes two studies about violent deaths within the metropolitan area of Mexico City. The first one analyzed the homicides information registered from 1993 to 1997 in the death certificates of the Health Ministry. The second was specifically related to those homicides registered in the Forensic Medical Service of the Federal District (Semefo) along 1996. The separate analysis of each, such as the comparisons among them allowed for the precise identification of the main characteristics of the victims, so as of the situations around the homicides, hence facilitating the elaboration of policies and intervention actions.
