GUTIERREZ GARZA, Esthela. Impact of the North America Free Trade Agreement in the labor relationships in Mexico. Pap. poblac [online]. 2005, vol.11, n.46, pp.9-44. ISSN 2448-7147.
The relationship between the economic opening and its effects in the labor relationships is analyzed. The economic liberalization generated important changes in the productive structure, particularly in the manufacturer industry that became the almost exclusive center of the international aperture model. However, this exporter dynamism was concentrated on the industry assembly plant, and in six sub-branches of the metal mechanics, manufacturers industry of transport equipments, electric and electronic devices. This marked productive segmentation accompanies of a weak linking to other sectors producing inputs and national components, causing a productive separation and a perverse circle that induce the application of labor static flexibility policies. In consequence, a fall in the formal employment and wages is produced.
