Resumen

MORA-SALAS, Minor  y  OLIVEIRA, Orlandina de. Degradation of salaried work force in the dawn of XXI century: Costa Rica and Mexico. Pap. poblac [online]. 2009, vol.15, n.61, pp.195-231. ISSN 2448-7147.

This article examines the precarious employment of the salaried work force in Costa Rica and Mexico. In Mexico it is noted that job insecurity is more widespread and more severe than in Costa Rica, as a result of institutional factors linked to greater social compromise of the Costa Rican distributive scheme, the increasing attachment to the fulfillment of individual employment rights and the presence of a system of regulation of labor markets with greater coverage. Despite these differences, the determinants of job insecurity and the profile of the most vulnerable workforce, show great similarities. Additionally, it is found that the variables associated with the labor market features -job-size, industry and occupational group-are factors that have greater explanatory power in this respect.

Palabras llave : labor market; precarious job; globalization; structural adjustment; work force; labor inclusion; Costa Rica; Mexico.
