The results indicate that the proliferation of work on social vulnerability has not been free of criticism and lack of consensus. Propose new theoretical and methodological reflections, from the analysis and clarification of the components and elements of social vulnerability approach to study the social and environmental drawbacks, and its implications for disadvantaged groups, as the elderly people. This raises the understanding of social vulnerability as an approach that from the methodological point of view, is the analysis of risks and assets of disadvantaged groups such as older adults. The approach in itself brings great expectations of social policy and planning gerontology.
