ANGUIANO-TELLEZ, María Eugenia; CRUZ-PINEIRO, Rodolfo y GARBEY-BUREY, Rosa María. Return of Mexican immigrants: itineraries and reintegration to homeland in Veracruz. Pap. poblac [online]. 2013, vol.19, n.77, pp.115-147. ISSN 2448-7147.
This article is the result of a research project in which, on the one hand, we analyze the evolution of the return of Mexican immigrants coming from the United States in three recent census periods, and on the other hand, we explore the labor and migratory paths of a group of people who migrated to the United States and returned to Monte Blanco, Veracruz. The hypothesis that guided this work states that successful work reintegration of returned immigrants coming from the United States would depend on the human capital and financial resources obtained in that country, the employment and investment opportunities in the Mexican communities of origin and the imagination and inventiveness of the immigrants. Interviews showed that mostly, the immigrants' economic and labor situation did not improve with the international migration nor with their return to Mexico, which makes necessary to the creation of programs aimed at reintegrating for the returned population that has been increasing in recent years, especially in rural communities where the opportunities of employment and investment are very limited.
