MONTOYA-CASASOLA, Miguel Ángel y SANDOVAL-FORERO, Eduardo Andrés. Sociodemographic marginalization of the Otomi people of the State of Mexico. Pap. poblac [online]. 2013, vol.19, n.78, pp.259-291. ISSN 2448-7147.
The marginalization within the Otomi ethno-region of the State of Mexico is unevenly distributed between indigenous and non-indigenous, being the first group in a more unfavorable condition. In other words, poverty, lack of educational and employment opportunities, lack of services and social rights, etc. are distributed not only on the basis of social class to which they belong but are accentuated with the belonging of a particular ethnic group. In this sense, the purpose of this paper is to expose various sociodemographic indicators of the Otomi people of the State of México, in order to show the conditions of disadvantage compared to non-indigenous population despite belonging to the same municipalities and ethno-region.
