VILLEGAS-VAZQUEZ, Kenya Gabriela y MONTOYA-ARCE, Bernardino Jaciel. The living standards of elderly people over 60s with social security in the State of Mexico. Pap. poblac [online]. 2014, vol.20, n.79, pp.133-167. ISSN 2448-7147.
The living standards of elderly people with social security in the State of Mexico are analyzed in this paper, according to the welfare that the person receives, which can be through pensions, retirement funds, affiliated workers or governmental programs. In order to carry out this study, the Demographic Ageing Survey for the State of Mexico 2008 (ESEDEM, for its name in Spanish) was used. This survey is provided by the Research and Advanced Population Studies Centre from the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (CIEAP-UAEM for its name in Spanish). The results show that the living conditions of the elderly people depend on the socio-demographic profile developed in this research, observing that according to the educational and working trajectory, the male population receives a more favorable economic retribution than the female counterpart. Consequently, female elderly people call upon in a greater extent the programs offered by the government, likewise they attend more often than the elderly males to the Health Institutions of which they are affiliated to.
