The aim of this paper is to explore whether the type of family living arrangement influences the quality of life of its members, an aspect that is reflected in inequalities in socioeconomic well-being, gender inequalities in the exercise of power and inequalities associated with the degree of urbanization of the place of residence. The data source used is the Encuesta Intercensal 2015. The classification of the arrangements is based on Laslett and Wall (1972) which allows us to distinguish between single and multiple arrangements. The analysis is based on a well-being index, and binary logistic regression models were applied. The main findings are as follows. The most advantageous type of residential arrangement in terms of the socioeconomic well-being of its members is the nuclear arrangement, while in the case of single-parent arrangements, it depends on their composition. In general, the figure of head of the living arrangement assigned by its members, is attributed to men; this situation varies according to the type of arrangement. In Mexico City, a highly urbanized context, nuclear arrangements are less frequent, the educational climate is higher and female headed arrangements are more frequent.
