Resumen
GONZALEZ-HERNANDEZ, Guadalupe Margarita. The revitalisation the Historic Centre of Zacatecas and social conscience. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2009, vol.9, n.30, pp.473-513. ISSN 2448-6183.
The historic centre of the city of Zacatecas (Mexico) has been transformed in the ideal place for tourists and high-income consumers through the usage of a colonial quarter that, as a part of cultural heritage, has imposed rehabilitation policies. In parallel, a suburbanisation and conurbation process towards the neighbouring city of Guadalupe has generated a spatial segmentation by increasing displacement costs. The historic centre of Zacatecas is nowadays a public space with private usage that is thought of as being visually stunning, ideal for free time activities, leaving behind its image as a place where class struggles converge.
