RAZA-CARRILLO, Diego y ACOSTA, Jhoselyn. Environmental planning and recycling of solid urban waste. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.69, pp.519-544. Epub 16-Oct-2022. ISSN 2448-6183. https://doi.org/10.22136/est20221696.
This study employed information from a World Bank database, named “What a Waste Global Database”, to compare the percentage of recycled waste in cities that have an environmental management plan with the percentage of those that do not have one. The result was: 86 cities that reported having a plan -that is, they pledged to implement actions to improve environmental management- had a higher percentage of recycled solid waste, compared with the percentage of 30 cities that did not have a plan. Furthermore, this difference was statistically significant.
