This work analyzes the transfer of life skills to other areas beyond the sports realm after a targeted group of young Mexican soccer players participated in a Positive Youth Development Program based on the Personal and Social Responsibility Model. This paper employs a qualitative methodology with a phenomenological approach. The participants in the study were 103 children and people between 11 and 20 years old (M= 18.6, SD= 12.1) who attended the Positive Youth Development Program for 24 weeks. This paper explores the experience of 11 participants after being interviewed using a semistructured method. The results demonstrate that the participants have developed life skills via sports activities, such as respect and teamwork, transferable to other areas of their lives, such as home or school. The paper concludes that the design of the program’s structure and the coach’s labor are crucial to transferring life skills in other areas beyond the sports domain.
