Health care systems in Chile and the U.S. are in crisis. That is why we need to reexamine the problem of the social determinants of health inequalities and the arguments of the libertarian theory of justice (Nozick) that reject the legitimacy of the redistribution of social resources and leaves the demands of a universal minimum to health care to charity and the market. To answer that theory we analyze the liberal egalitarian theory of justice (Rawls, Dworkin) that legitimizes the existence of a basic human right to health care to the extent that substantially determines the welfare and equality of opportunity for people.
