MURILLO, F. Javier  y  MARTINEZ-GARRIDO, Cynthia. Factors of academic efficacy in the Dominican Republic. Innov. educ. (Méx. DF) [online]. 2016, vol.16, n.72, pp.113-132. ISSN 1665-2673.

Research on academic efficacy is a line of educational research that contributes in important ways to the making of decisions at all levels of educational systems: administration, schools and classrooms. This study aims to identify the factors of academic and classroom efficacy at the primary school level in the Dominican Republic. Data from the Dominican Republic’s Second Explanatory and Comparative Regional Study (SERCE, in Spanish) was used, through multilevel models with two levels of analysis: students and school. The sample was comprised by 4,646 students, in 303 classrooms, in 218 schools throughout the Dominican Republic. The results showed the existence of six factors of academic efficacy in the Dominican Republic: sense of community, school and classroom environment, curriculum, academic direction, participation of the academic community and resources. Based on this information, recommendations are made for educational management and learning centers.
