Financial education has become a differentiating element in the economic development of countries and Mexico has taken measures that have not been enough. This research aims to identify what factors influence the level of financial education of young people belonging to generation Z in the municipality of Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico. With a quantitative approach, non-experimental design and correlational scope. The results show that young people do not have the necessary knowledge to make good financial decisions, in addition, that the educational level of the mother influences the level of these young people. It is recommended that study plans and programs be adjusted so that subjects related to the subject are taught from basic education. One limitation of the present was the data collection that was carried out through online surveys due to the current pandemic conditions. It is concluded that financial competence should be strengthened, especially focused on positive financial practices or behaviors.
