ZARATE TOLEDO, Antonieta. Challenges And Alternatives Concerning Local Management Of Water In The Suburbs Of San Cristobal De Las Casas, Chiapas. LiminaR [online]. 2017, vol.15, n.2, pp.126-139. ISSN 2007-8900. https://doi.org/10.2536/liminar.v15i2.535.
In this article, we analyze the social relationships that are established around water and forest resources, as well as the tensions and conflicts that are associated with this process in urban periphery contexts. We start from the study of the strategies and practices of access, supply, management and control of the water adopted by urban and rural actors that cohabit the periphery-urban areas of San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas. The results of this study are based on field work, in-depth interviews and participant observation carried out in the Los Alcanfores community. In the case presented, local management strategies have been pressured by social changes derived from population growth.
