RANGEL TORRIJO, Hugo. Charles Taylor’s pluralism. Its relevance against global conservatism. Andamios [online]. 2019, vol.16, n.40, pp.151-164. Epub 18-Mayo-2020. ISSN 2594-1917. https://doi.org/10.29092/uacm.v16i40.701.
Taylor is a philosopher with great relevance to the social sciences for his theoretical proposals on plurality in the global context of diversity and evolution of secularized society. We propose an analysis that contrasts his views with global conservatism.
We examine his contribution to the understanding of contemporary phenomena such as secularization and modernity. We show that Taylor is a major philosopher of tolerance and religious plurality, who has exercised a claim to ethical values. His reflections on recognition constitute substantial contributions to the understanding of modern identity.
