The article links labor markets to the analysis of well-being and poverty in Mexico from a rights perspective. Well-being is identified through a conjunction of the rights -based approach with the needs-based approach from a multidimensional perspective, using the Socioeconomic Well-Being Method of Reyes and López (2016). For poverty, the multidimensional poverty methodology of the National Council for the Evaluation of Social Development Policy is used. With both measurements, the gaps in well-being, rights, and poverty are obtained. Evidence is found that having social security is a guarantor of greater well-being, less vulnerability, and poverty. The reduction in some of the Unmet Needs (Well-being) and social deficiencies, is not yet sufficient to reduce the gap in well-being and incidence of poverty and vulnerability among workers with and without social security.
