Resumen

TRUJILLO-SALAZAR, Lucía. Child Labor and Territorial Inequalities in Argentina. Región y sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.34, e1691.  Epub 01-Jun-2023. ISSN 2448-4849.  https://doi.org/10.22198/rys2022/34/1691.

Objective: estimating, georeferencing, and analyzing the risk of child labor in census municipalities. Methodology: child labor risk identification model is used and the probability of child labor is estimated by combining census microdata, surveys, and administrative records in the analysis. Results: the obtained risk percentiles show agglomerations with high levels, especially in the northern part of the country, while medium levels are found in the central region and low levels in the southern. This information helps to identify relevant nuances at the intra-regional level. Limitations: the census’ data belongs to 2010, which is the most current, given that no other source of information with that degree of disaggregation is yet available. Value: the methodological proposal and the empirical results represent a novelty since there are no other studies with this kind of geographical disaggregation. Conclusions: territorial heterogeneity, as an enclave of the reproduction of inequalities, is associated with a relative predominance of child labor incidence.
