ACEVEDO ZAPATA, Luis Alejandro. The diary-novel of the beginning of the 20th century in Mexico: the case of el sargento primero (1905), by Delio Moreno Cantón (1863-1916). Península [online]. 2023, vol.18, n.2, pp.137-161. Epub 23-Abr-2024. ISSN 1870-5766. https://doi.org/10.22201/cephcis.25942743e.2023.18.2.85946.
El Sargento Primero is a literary work published in Mérida, Yucatán, in 1905, whose merit lies in having explored the concept of intimacy from the level of romantic fiction in a literary era in which the resonance of the autobiographical, in Mexico, and particularly in Yucatán, it did not seem to be a high-flying literary company. The work, overshadowed by the political career of its author, Delio Moreno Cantón, is an example of the fictional approaches in vogue during the 19th century, mainly in France, which ventured into the territory of the self and individuality from fiction novelistic.
