The red-breasted nuthatch (Sitta canadensis) is widely distributed in the United States and Canada. Based on its irruptions, it has been recorded in the States of Chihuahua, Sonora, Sinaloa, Baja California, Nuevo León and western part of Mexico (Jalisco and Colima). In Baja California, there are four areas of record: (1) Isla Guadalupe (population considered eradicated since 1995) (2), Sierra de San Pedro Mártir (3), Sierra Juárez, and (4) Santa Rosaliíta, the latter two taken more than 20 years ago. We identified an adult male red-breasted nuthatch for the first time within the Los Attenuatas Forest during winter 2015.
