To design Self-Compacting Concrete (HAC, in Spanish), the trend has been... (cement + mineral admixtures) exceeding 500kg/m3, much higher than those used in conventional concrete. This paper focuses on the design of HAC with low content of powdery material (between 330 and 420 kg/m3) using an admixture designed for that purpose. The study covers the determination of its properties in fresh state, applying the standards developed recently by the ASTM Committee C09.47, which includes ASTM C1611-05 (Extended) and ASTM C1621-06 (Extended with J-Ring). The HAC static segregation is also assessed using a method segregation of HAC's using a method which is about to be approved as regulatory. Additionally, tests were performed on the "L" box, the "U" Box and the V-Funnel. There is no doubt that manufacturing of HAC with low powder content makes it a more competitive material in comparison with conventional concrete, which has resistances ranging from 20 to 35 MPa.
