JAIMES MARTINEZ, Karen Liliana. Tensioned positions on child labor: abolitionism and critical appraisal. Cultura representaciones soc [online]. 2023, vol.17, n.34, e0002002. Epub 20-Oct-2023. ISSN 2007-8110.
The participation of girls and boys in the labor sphere has existed historically, currently it is a situation that cannot be hidden or minimized. The presence of child labor has prompted positions which are essential for research, public policies, programs and social representations that deal with this social fact. In recent decades, two positions on child labor have gained strength: the abolitionist and the critical appraisal, each with their respective objectives, strategies and appreciations. The present study analyzes through a bibliographical and theoretical immersion the construction of the concept of childhood, the historical development of child labor, the positions of child labor: the abolitionist and the critical appraisal, drawing conclusions about a multidimensional and latent social fact in our society.
