Resumen
PRIEGO-BRAVO, Andrea et al. Teachers' perception on strategies to improve the nutrition of elementary school students in times of Covid-19. Estud. soc. Rev. aliment. contemp. desarro. reg. [online]. 2023, vol.33, n.61, e231320. Epub 13-Nov-2023. ISSN 2395-9169. https://doi.org/10.24836/es.v33i61.1320.
Objective:
To identify perceptions of strategies to improve the feeding of basic education students during Covid-19.
Methodology:
A qualitative study in which 45 teachers from public and private schools participated, a semistructured interview was applied through Microsoft Forms (Office 365, Microsoft).
Results:
According to the perception of the teachers’ parents do not promote a healthy diet in their children, for lack of knowledge, both parents work or indifference, 20.0% of teachers mentioned that one of the strategies to improve school feeding was the training offered by the Secretary of Public Education (SPE), however, 78.0% believe that the nutritionist should teach these topics for their academic training.
Limitations:
It is a representative sample of public and private schools; it does not delve into the food consumption of students during school hours.
Conclusions:
Teachers' perception was that nutritionists are best able to establish strategies and programs of nutritional education with follow-up to improve the school feeding, because parents do not encourage it.
