ROMANO-MUNIVE, Adriana F.. Allurion balloon: early withdrawal by endoscopy. Endoscopia [online]. 2022, vol.34, n.3, pp.94-96. Epub 08-Mayo-2023. ISSN 2444-6483. https://doi.org/10.24875/end.23000006.
Introduction:
Allurion gastric balloon does not require endoscopy for placement or removal; however, up to 2.9% of patients do not tolerate it, so early endoscopic removal is required.
Objective:
To know the complications associated with this balloon and endoscopic technique for its removal.
Clinical case:
44-year-old female with overweight and chronic constipation. Allurion gastric balloon was placed, but the patient presented nausea and epigastric abdominal pain, received treatment, without improvement, hence the balloon was removed 2 weeks later.
Conclusions:
Allurion gastric balloon requires endoscopy to resolve most of its complications, so the endoscopist must be familiar with its removal technique.
