GALLARDO MARTINEZ, Yurixhi; MEDINA SANCHEZ, Matías y HERRERA SALAS, Miguel Ángel. Mandatory certification in Jalisco: discrepancies with the certification of professional associations. Derecho glob. In Mexico, Professional Associations issue their own criteria to grant accreditation to their members. The main objective of this paper is to compare certification guidelines among Barra Mexicana, Colegio de Abogados (BMA), Asociación Nacional de Abogados de Empresa, Colegio de Abogados (ANADE), Instituto Mexicano de Contadores Públicos (IMCP) and Federación Nacional de la Asociación Mexicana de Colegios de Contadores Públicos (FNAMCP) to identify common criteria and contrast them with the provisions of the Law for the Exercise of Professional Activities of the State of Jalisco (LEAPEJ). The analysis is relevant as professional certification of certain areas, including legal and accounting, becomes mandatory when the LEAPEJ takes effect. The work concludes that the certification processes carried out by the professional associations differ from the process of certification of competencies contemplated by law. At the same time, it highlights the advances that the accounting profession has made in this area.
