VILLA SOTO, Juan Carlos y MENDOZA ROSAS, Rosa María. Criteria for defining the interdisciplinary nature of university curricular designs. Inter disciplina [online]. 2020, vol.8, n.20, pp.169-189. Epub 14-Ago-2020. ISSN 2448-5705. https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485705e.2019.18.71977.
The purpose of this work is to know the key criteria that give an interdisciplinary character to the university careers designed with this approach. First, the principles of knowledge integration of two higher education programs created in Mexico during the curriculum innovation process promoted in the 1970s were revised. Subsequently, the notion of interdisciplinary curriculum was examined based on a comprehensive conception of curriculum and it was proposed, in the light of such review, to add a dimension related to the disciplinary domains included in the curricula and with the ways in which knowledge of these domains is integrated. From this dimension -which we call onto-epistemological because it’s defined by the objects of study of disciplinary, hybrid or complex domains-, is examined by way of example the interdisciplinary nature of the environmental science degree of National School of Higher Education from Morelia of the UNAM.
