TINAT, Karine y NUNEZ RODRIGUEZ, Maribel. Obesity and gender: a research proposal. Inter disciplina [online]. 2022, vol.10, n.26, pp.119-145. Epub 04-Abr-2022. ISSN 2448-5705. https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485705e.2022.26.80971.
In this article we made a review of the scientific literature that has been produced recently around obesity in Mexico, analyzes how the gender perspective has been addressed (or not) in this bibliography, and shows the need to include it as an interdisciplinary tool in food studies. First, the different approaches on the subject of obesity, in the reviewed texts, are presented; statistics are emphasized, and obesity is presented as a social, economic and public health problem, where the influence of public policies, eating behaviors and family dynamics converge. Second, it analyzes how some studies link the issue of obesity with a gender perspective and, finally, outlines the contributions that this approach could make, evoking issues such as discrimination and the Fat Feminist Movements in shaping the current feminine cultural identity.
