The german term Wissenschaft refers to any study that involves some kind of systematic investigation.1 Although in earlier centuries its use was comparable to that of science, the latter term has narrowed its scope, at least in English speech, while the German word has retained its broad meaning.2 However, based on the work of Kant, who, in his idea of creating a paradigm of rigorous scientific creation, discredited the so-called schöne Wissenschaften (fine sciences) which included, among others, poetry, rhetoric and literature.3
As is known, this tearing deepened to the point that in 1959, C. Snow predicted the division between “The Two Cultures”, an issue that constituted a great disad vantage for the solution of the problems of our civilization.
In light of this schism, it is understandable how little attention have received (according to the guest editors of this issue) “the indisciplinary and interdisciplinary efforts of scholars, who carry out their plural and comprehensive inquiries of the worlds, taking as end of the framework, literature”. With this new installment, our magazine once again ratifies its vocation to open spaces for the interdisciplinary analysis of aspects of our reality that have not enjoyed the attention they deserve, vetoed by narrow visions of “scientificity”.
In keeping with the theme of the dossier, three reviews are offered that are very pertinent to the issue’s proposal, as well as a section on literary creation (very much in the direction of vindicating the term Wissenschaft) that supports the point of view that “this art, like others, is not only enjoyed, it is also analyzed, unraveled”.
An interview with the Mtra. Inci Caballero Donis, official of the Mexican representation in the city of Denver, Colorado is published; she is also a specialist in gender violence among Spanish speakers in the area.
The issue closes with nine articles in the Independent Communications section that visit topics related to archaeology, the concept of limited rationality, the perspectives of higher education in Mexico and the future of the Autonomous Constitutional Bodies in the current government situation, among others.
