PALUMBO, Mariana y LOPEZ, Oliva. The role of the family in the construction of masculinity(ies) in cis male students of the FES Iztacala. Inter disciplina [online]. 2023, vol.11, n.30, pp.313-336. Epub 01-Sep-2023. ISSN 2448-5705. https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485705e.2023.30.85573.
Family is a central realm where the principles about to be masculine are learned, reproduced and questioned. From a qualitative methodology, we describe and analyse the family as a gender technology from which young cis masculinities are constructed in three dimensions: heterosexual, provider-protector and accomplice-silent against violence towards women. We focus our analysis on young men between 18 and 24 years old, cis heterosexuals who are studying at Faculty of Higher Studies Iztacala of the National University Autonomous of Mexico, during 2019. Our perspective of analysis on masculinities is relational, constructivist and located.
