This article shows exploratory research, with a qualitative approach, carried out in tattoo studios in four cities in Ecuador. Its purpose has been to know the characteristics of body art centers, their professionals, the conditions in which their work is framed and the social groups to which the clients or consumers of this service belong. The analysis presents qualitative data that was collected through semi-structured interviews in 12 tattoo centers distributed proportionally in Quito, Latacunga, Ambato and Riobamba. In the results, criteria were obtained on professional training, valuation and costs of their work, characteristics of their clients and perception of the groups towards the profession.
