PEREZ BULNES, Dalia Catalina; CAAMAL OLVERA, Cinthya Guadalupe  y  MASTRETTA LOPEZ, José Luis. Labor participation of women in Mexico: preferences and limitations. The Anáhuac j. [online]. 2023, vol.23, n.2, pp.146-179.  Epub 02-Feb-2024. ISSN 2683-2690.  https://doi.org/10.36105/theanahuacjour.2023v23n2.06.

The objective of this article is to analyze the factors related to labor participation of women in Mexico, identifying that the probability of women working is higher if they use contraceptives, are single, have a higher educational level, or have access to childcare. Reproductive and educational decisions are relevant to women’s decision to participate in the labor market. There are gender roles that limit the participation of women, for example, if the head of the family is a man or if the woman wishes to have more children. Access to childcare centers is a result of working women having direct access to the IMSS (Mexican Institute of Social Security).
